Bruce Springsteen’s ballad, “The Ghost of Tom Joad,” pretty much sums up what I aspire to be; a Steinbeckian blue-collar, sole built on the fading morals of what this country was once thought to represent. At least, that’s what I think. I am inspired by stories of struggle and defiance, be it a mother in Camden, New Jersey standing up to a decade of crime, or a campesino farmer in Chiapas, Mexico resisting his government’s attempts to take away his land. Our struggle defines our generation.

My life is dedicated to visual storytelling, but I am still drawn to the intimacy of the written word. The passages that I leave behind on this blog will be my attempt at interpreting the influence of the news media on the masses, as well as an account of my smoldering observations about society as I track down the perfect story. I will share the headlines surrounding topics that I am reporting on, as well as characterizations about the ethics of media in the digital age.

Thanks for reading,
Erin
